Wrap a Family in Hope

Handmade Quilts to Support Immigrant Justice

We’re reaching out with a request to support some of the most vulnerable members of our local community — immigrants in need of legal assistance.

The Immigration Committee of the Akron Area Interfaith Council is hosting a quilt sale fundraiser to help cover costly legal fees for immigration cases, including visa renewals, asylum applications, and power of attorney filings.

We’ve received six beautiful, handmade quilts, generously donated by a longtime quilter who learned the craft from her mother. All proceeds will go directly to families in need.

True Stories

Leona has called this country home for over 20 years. She continues to pay to renew her work visa while striving to become a U.S. citizen — all while caring for her son with special needs.

Vilma is seeking asylum after the murder of her brother in Guatemala. The family, here for 15 years from Honduras, have built a life through steady work and are raising two beautiful children.

These families are our neighbors. You can support them by donating or purchasing a quilt below.

From One Loving Hand to Another

Each of these beautiful quilts was lovingly machine-pieced, appliquéd, and quilted on a home sewing machine, with hand-sewn binding. All but two are original designs by a dedicated quilter who learned the craft from her mother and shares her artistry in quiet, generous service to others.
