For the past 13 years the Akron Area Interfaith Council has been proud to sponsor The Annual Hunger Walk to raise money to support the efforts of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
The most recent figures show that food insecurity is on the rise in Summit County with a rate among adults in Summit County at 13.8% of the total population. For children the rate is 19.1%.
In the past two years, with the pandemic bearing down on us, the Foodbank remained open and continued to provide nutritious food with its extensive network of food pantries, hot meal sites and shelters throughout Summit County. Our goal is to raise as much money as we can to support the Foodbank in this most important work.
We thank you for joining us as we all walk together toward the goal of stamping out hunger in our community.

2021, 12th Annual AAIC Fairlawn Hunger Walk information (2021):
The efforts of our AAIC community and others who reached a little deeper last year enabled us to collect an amazing $36,496.42 that went directly to the Akron-Canton Regional Food bank. Unfortunately, we needed to redouble our efforts again in 2021 since there was a 31% increase in food insecure people in Summit Co. and a 44% increase in food insecure children.
